3-6 wind
Wind is the weakest agent out of the three ( Glaciers, Waves, and Wind ) of erosion.
The main way wind causes erosion is by deflation.
DEFLATION~~ The process by which wind removes surface materials.
Wind erosion and deposition may form sand dunes and loess deposits.
LOESS~~ Wind-deposited sediment.
Large loess deposits are found in centeral China and such states as Nebraska, South Dakota, Lowa, Missouri, and Lllinois.
Loess helps to form fertile soil. Many are with thick loess deposits are valuable farmlands.

checkpoint questionsWhere would you be most likely to see evidence of wind erosion?
|
section questions1. Describe how wind erodes the land.
2. How do sand dunes and loess depossits form? 3. What is the blowout and what is the process that produces one? 4. Thinking Critically Predicting You visit a beach that has sand dunes covered with dune grass. But where people take a shortcut over one dune, the grass has been worn away. What may eventually happen to the dune if people keep taking this path? |
